Newborn sessions are a little trickier than your average family portrait session. They take longer and require more patience and perseverance. Usually, I bring an assistant with me because four hands are better than two. Can you imagine all of the things you could get done faster with four hands?!? For M’s session my usual friend and assistant wasn’t available so I went alone… It was slightly harder but all in all still a beautiful session.

The last two images were taken within thirty seconds of each other… It always amazes me, how quickly a new mother can soothe their crying baby: chaos to peace in only a moment. Thank you for a beautiful session. It was so lovely to meet your new family.

Chicago Newborn Photography | A big little Bump

We had such a wonderful day capturing this little (big) guys newborn photographs. He was so adorable and chunky, definitely a favorite! We were able to get some super cute sleeping images and some shots with his wonderful parents. And check out his room! Not only did he have a gorgeous peek of the lake but his mom did an absolutely fantastic job decorating his nursery. I literally would have loved to just move in! Congratulations again and I can’t wait to see how fast Baby B will grow!

Chicago Newborn Photographers | Lovely Little Slumber

This was the perfect session to come back to after a week vacation in Mexico. Photographing this sweet Chicago newborn was a complete breeze. She slept like a log (a beautiful, tiny log) through our entire session. Baby F’s portrait session went so well because A. she is a perfect baby and B. I had four hands instead of two! My friend Suzy and I have been collaborating when we can and it is AMAZING to have an extra set of hands during a newborn photography session! I honestly cannot thank you enough Suzy, I am so glad we met!!! And thank you again to the wonderful parents of this sweet little munchkin.

This little baby girl was an absolute dream to work with. She was asleep when we arrived, only opened her eyes once during the entire session, let out one teeny-tiny cry, woke up when her parents changed her and was fast asleep again when we left. It could not have gone better. And check out her perfect chubby cheeks, so stinking adorable! Thank you so much to little J’s parents and congratulations again! You have been so blessed with a perfect baby

Chicago Newborn Photography | Twins are Twice as Nice

Twins are twice as nice… and twice as much work. This sweet little boy and girl twins were so fun to photograph. There was definitely more involved than with a single newborn because we needed to get their sleep patterns in sync. It took some work but we did it. And I am so thankful my friend Suzy was able to come and help me =) I couldn’t imagine photographing newborn twins on my own! Thank you again to the family for a lovely session, it was a joy to meet you!

I am so thrilled that I was able to photograph J and his baby brother T. They were so incredibly sweet… Although T did put up quite a fight for 7 pound baby, we managed to get some lovely sleepy newborn photographs of him. This family’s story is truly amazing and they definitely hit the jackpot with these two boys. Thank you again, it was so wonderful to meet you!

Sweetest Sixteen Moments of 2009

Here is another way to say goodbye to 2009. I want to thank each family I have photographed this year. I truly enjoyed each of you and cannot wait to capture more images of you in 2010. I went through each session and picked out my favorite image, then I narrowed those all the way down to 15… Well actually 16 because I just couldn’t get rid of one of these images. Each of these images captured an awesome moment that I absolutely love. These were my favorite favorites of 2009!

Now I need you to vote for your favorite favorite image! The family with the most votes at Midnight of January 15th will win a fabulous prize… The wonderful client that wins the prize will receive an 11×14 gallery wrapped canvas of the winning image, valued at $355!
