Last week I was lucky enough to go to Atlanta to celebrate my best friend’s 30th birthday. We had so, so much fun…. I wish we still lived in the same state! While I was there I was able to photograph a few adorable kids and canines on my trip. This trip inspired another, and I will be headed to Santa Barbara in October for more holiday Mini Sessions. I am so excited to announce that we will be holding mini sessions in Santa Barbara on October 8th. This is the perfect time to capture beautiful images of your family and be prepared this holiday season. I know how busy things get once we reach October, so get a head start this year. Mini sessions are a wonderful way to capture your family and your love. Your children change so quickly and all too often you are always behind the camera and never in the images. This year I challenge you to participate and receive lovely portraits of you, your family, your life.

These mini sessions will be held in Santa Barbara on October 8th, 2011. Please contact me soon for more information as there are only a limited number of sessions.

Chicago Pregnancy Photography | Tips for a Fabulous Maternity Session

May is pregnancy awareness month, so we wanted to share some information with you. Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful and natural occurrences in our lives and I absolutely love documenting it. Some women may be nervous about having maternity photographs taken because of the many changes the body goes through. However, when you find the right photographer they can capture your body and its beauty flawlessly. You should be completely comfortable and *gasp* actually enjoy the entire process! Here are the top three tips for creating the perfect maternity session.

1. Find a maternity photographer with a style that matches your tastes. A photographer that specializes in maternity and newborn photography will have experience and the skills to make you look your best during this wonderful time. It is so important that you connect and trust your photographer so that you are completely comfortable during your session. Meet for coffee, get to know your photographer, ask any and all questions that you have, but most importantly work with someone that you like.

2. Your session should take place between 28-34 weeks. Every woman and every pregnancy is unique, so your exact timing will vary. We want you to be showing with a beautiful, large belly, but it is also important that you are completely comfortable. If pregnancy photographs are something that you are interested in be sure to plan ahead, life gets very busy towards the third trimester.

3. As you have probably noticed, your comfort is the number one priority with pregnancy portraits. The clothes that you wear during your photography session plays a large role in how you feel during the shoot and about the photographs. The best thing to do is choose your favorite maternity outfit, solid colors work best. I love form fitted tops with chunky sweaters or long flowing dresses. If you want bare belly shots I have an assortment of wraps and fabrics that work fantastically! The most important thing is that you feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful… because you are!!!

We are so excited to announce our participation in the Baby Dream Gear Class at Bubbles Academy on April 3rd hosted by Baby Bump Planning‘s Amber Crosby. This one of a kind class is for new and expecting parents that will feature every gear item from strollers to car seats, bottles to nipple cream, high chairs to bath tubs you name it and we will be going over it in every detail. Addressing concerns most parents have such as safety, what to save on, what to splurge on, practicality. The class is $35 per person or $45 per couple and includes the baby gear class, lunch, fabulous swag bags and giveaways PLUS on-site complimentary mini bump sessions for expectant parents by yours truly =)

Chicago Photographer | Mini Sessions to benefit “Kids Fight Cancer”

Pediatric cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15, every day children lose their battle with cancer. Funding for research and treatment of pediatric cancer has increased tremendously in the past few years, but there is always a need for more help. Julia Franzosa Photography will be organizing a mini-session event on April 9th to benefit a local organization helping children and families that are battling cancer. Kids Fight Cancer is a local organization that “provides pediatric and adolescent cancer patients with a safe, educational and entertaining environment which reduces the stresses, side effects and emotional struggles confronted during cancer treatment.” 100% of the session fees will be donated to Kids Fight Cancer.

We are having a one-day photography fundraising event to benefit local organization “Kids Fight Cancer” on Saturday, April 9th.

What: Kids Fight Cancer Mini Session Fundraiser!

Where: Will be announced after booking your session

When: April 9th, 20 minute sessions throughout the day

Cost: $75 (100% of this fee will be donated to Kids Fight Cancer)
